What's the problem here? Why "New Age Fraud" Fits Tamarack Song to a T.
Welcome again, Everyone, to As The Teaching Drum Turns.
As we have stated before, this website is undergoing a major reorganization so that it will hopefully present more clearly what our issues are with Tamarack Song (Daniel Konen) of the Teaching Drum Outdoor School.
Some of you may have found us through web engine searches or forum links to pages no longer available. Those pages will be restored in time as they again become relevant to our case against Tamarack Song.
It is our intention going forward to group the issues around Dan Konen and his wilderness school in a much more focused and orderly fashion. The fraudulent practices we will be exposing as we make our case include his genocidal insistence on calling himself and his followers "Natives", his fake-lore writings, the sexual harassment of at least one female student that we know of (we have the letters), his unaccountability through mystification of his origins and training, his cultishness, his anti-Indian racism, his desecration of the Sweat Lodge Ceremony, his demonization of dissenters, his racist distortions of Native American history and culture, his failure to put First Nations first, his violent narcissism, his anti-activist prejudice, his hypocrisy, his white apologists, his attack dog spokesmouth Glenn Helkenn, and his posturing, enabling groupies.
These categories are not exhaustive, as indeed, the man never seems to tire of his own criminal phoniness. Unfortunately, the mainstream media has picked up on Tamarack Song's story and promoted it uncritically. Harnessing the power of the internet, we intend to put a stop to that lack of counterposing views.
A note on our internet handle "Nemeses". Some of you may remember from Greek mythology the goddess Nemesis, who was responsible for leading Narcissus to his death by causing him to fall in love with his own image to punish him for his vanity and pride. We like to think of the narcissism of Tamarack and his cult in much the same vein. The more they talk about themselves the more they do themselves in by revealing to others what they really are. Over the years, Tamarack has hurt many people and therefore made many opponents. Let him guess who all we are.
Further, this website is not possible without the input of many people, thus we have chosen the plural moniker "Nemeses". As most of our contributors have preferred to remain anonymous in the many months of this website's existence, we thought it best to continue overall in that spirit. Anyone is welcome to contribute at any time, either in the comments section or through an article we can post on our front page. We always appreciate link suggestions or further readings.
Our traffic reports tell us that many of you who come here spend a great deal of time thoroughly reading the site and returning again and again. It is in appreciation of that effort that you expend that we want to make our site much more presentable. Perhaps just informing the people of Konens past in Tigerton WI with the Posse .... Or the fact he was a Vietnam conscience objector, yet proudly stands in photos from his school of ill repute wearing military clothing! Or perhaps the drug raid in 2007, where an arrest was made at the Teaching Drum! He is a Koresh or Rev. Moon brainwashing wannabe!! Need to know more??
Someone needs to ask Konen why is he in such poor health, if living is way is so healthy? Maybe all that mosquito training now makes him in need of his cardiologist?? It sure wasn't from working hard, that drone is too busy mating. Dude, lay off the sex and shrooms!

Much came from MANY hours reviewing public court records, and years of trying to reveal the core of this slime! Recent court records show the income he "claims" to draw from the "school" as he receives child support from his exwife! OH what a man!! Dorothy must be so proud of her son!! As far as the drug bust, Oneida County Sheriffs Dept.
Check out the: Wisconsin Circuit Court Access web page also known as CCAP. This has all court records from all counties in the state of Wisconsin. These are all open to the public! Konens Case # 1994FA000090 and 1994A000090 , Oneida County. Also in search of his many bogus appearances, is the hearing where he had his named changed. And where did this money come from?? Konen moved here with no pot to piss in, now he has more then the working man!!

We did indeed check out your tip. Looks like Konen's son's mother was the petitioner in the divorce, which surprised us. We wonder if he fought so hard for custody just to punish her. We sure would like to know more about Kim Zinsmeister, as she and Tamarack appear to have thrown restraining orders back and forth at each other. A Zaba search reveals that she lived (or still lives?) two doors down from the Teaching Drum. Perhaps a land dispute?
Rumors about someone from long ago who had stalked Tamarack appear to be confirmed by the restraning order he took out on Mr. Sweeney.
We haven't felt much inspired to dig as deeply as you have - largely because we have so much dreary dirt already. But, you encouraged us to do a little more Interneting, which netted us more of Tamarack's letters to the editor. Thanks to a recent one, we have learned that he was raised a Catholic, which confirms our suspicion that he merely traded that severe religion for a New Age one - a common practice amongst Sixties burnout types. They always think the Indians won't complain.

We've received phone and address information for a person who can be contacted for juice on Tamarack's early years. Email us privately if you'd like the source. You may or may not live near enough to this person for it to be worth your while, but another reader was kind enough to forward the info with the suggestion to pass it along to you.
I have been in contact with Tamarack since 1999. It took me until 2006 to realize that Tamarack Song is a fake and is doing a dis-service to Native Americans. From 1999 to 2006 Tamarack has been involved sexually with five females that I know of. I have not been with the school exclusively for those seven years so who knows the countless other women he has been involved with. This man is a liar and self-serving.
We agree with that assessment of Tamarack's character. Sounds like you have quite a story to tell. Rant if you need to.
Of those five women, do you know any who received one of Konen's infamous "intended to be mated" letters? We'd give our left testicle and right ovary to have more than the letters we already do. His own writing reveals more about him than almost anything else.

Well, dear contributor. We've been wondering and wondering who you might be, and we think you might be someone one of us knew a few years ago. We could be wrong, of course, but we'd like you to know that something you once said helped us to understand the difference between merely fraudulent behavior and outright frauds. There is a difference and it's an important one. We don't think you meant to help us in any way, nonetheless, you did - for which we are eternally grateful. Knowing that you've been watching for sometime now (and mighty late at night, too) has inspired us to some of our best work - here and elsewhere. If you really are the person we think you are, we want you to know what a gift you've been over the years. What Tamaarack did helped us prepare for your coming. That you continue to try to find us after our awful falling out has been such a surprise! What do you make of that? After all this time, we still care too - as we are sure you have guessed.
